Krzemień Community Center, Szczecin, 1st Prize

Thanks to local support and efforts by the community of Podjuchy, a district of Szczecin, the city authorities organized a competition in 2016, in cooperation with SARP Szczecin, for the construction of a Local Activity Center.

Thanks to local support and efforts by the community of Podjuchy, a district of Szczecin, the city authorities organized a competition in 2016, in cooperation with SARP Szczecin, for the construction of a Local Activity Center. Our winning proposal won favor with the jury thanks to functional solutions allowing for a wide range of events as well as great flexibility and independence of individual rooms. The location we chose, at the corner of Krzemienna and Sąsiedzka streets, creates an entrance square linking the building with the city.

The building itself is a series of small spaces organized around a central hall. Besides a multifunctional hall for 200 people, the building also houses a dance and ballet studio, a sports room, a rehearsal room, and a neighborhood council room. A café located at the junction of the existing park and the square will be an additional draw, encouraging people to visit and spend time in this new cultural spot on the map of Podjuchy. In the end, the CAL became the home of the Krzemień Community Center and began operating in September 2020.
