House with a Gable Roof, Wrocław

A single-family house located in the northern part of Wrocław, on a plot bordering a green alder-and-oak grove. The building was set into the greenery of a riparian forest along the Oder, which is a key feature of the plot. The building’s massing draws on the proportions of historic local architecture and evokes memories of rural building forms. Setting the facade back from the low, projecting eaves provides the necessary shade during the summer.

A modest form that makes the most of the plot’s qualities and its setting. The building’s facade combines architectural concrete on the gable walls with brick — an aesthetic choice, but also a practical one, meant to minimize the need for facade renovation. Concrete is used consistently on the terraces and inside, creating an exceptionally coherent whole. Together with the client, we managed to create a beautiful place to live, tailored to their needs — something the happy residents of the house can confirm.
