Holiday House, Przedgórze Izerskie

The house is located on the edge of a small village in the Izera Mountains, dominated by historic buildings.

The house is located on the edge of a small village in the Izera Mountains, dominated by historic buildings. Even though the plot was not subject to heritage conservation restrictions, we loosely reference the region’s traditional post-and-beam (“przysłupowy”) houses. This is a contemporary take on that building type, matching the form, proportions, structural layout, and materials characteristic of the przysłupowy houses found in this area.

The house is divided into two parts: a masonry residential section and a covered terrace, which is entirely a timber structure. Combining these functions in this way made it possible, despite the modest size of the house, to create a building volume that matches the scale and proportions of the neighboring buildings.
