The proposal we put forward is an attempt to reconcile the contradictions arising from the plot’s context, its surroundings, and the functional program. The basic questions we asked ourselves were: How, without a distinctive context, do you create a building that references local building tradition? How do you create an attractive volume whose scale won’t dominate the buildings in its immediate surroundings? And how do you create an attractive building when the individual phases of the investment will each function independently for a period of time?

For these problems as posed, we found a solution that combines a multi-bay underground car park with a building that references local building tradition. The solution that reconciles these contradictions is the foundation of our proposal. The proposed concept integrates the modern, irregular form of Phase II with development referencing the open-air-museum-style architecture of Phase I. It allows for a building whose form, regardless of how far construction has progressed, is aesthetically complete and able to function independently. Visualizations: GRID architekci | GID studio
